Women Development Cell
As per the guidelines of the Vice-Chancellor of University of Mumbai, the College has introduced a Women’s Development Cell in the academic year 2011-12. The Women’s Development Cell (WDC) is a statutory body for the prevention/action against sexual harassment of women. It looks into the grievances/complaints of teaching, non teaching staff and students, especially in cases of gender discrimination.

Objectives
• To create awareness of sexual harassment through guest lectures
• To ensure protection of girls/women from sexual harassment studying/working in the premises
• To redress the cases of sexual harassment if any
• To enforce disciplinary framework for students
• To organize workshops, seminars and talks to convey the message of Gender Equality (Gender Sensitization Workshops)
• To organize the gender awareness through posters/slogans/essay competition/screening of films/street plays
• To organize the programs with other associations of the college such as Students council, Cultural Association, etc.

Activities:

2013-14:

    1. Arranged lecture of Advocate Indavi Tulpule on 12th February, 2014 on Direction of Woman Develoment. She talked on Domestic Violence and Remedies for Women.  Dr. S.M. Patil presided over the function.  Prof. Mrs. Kamal Zugare proposed vote of thanks while Prof. Mrs. G.R. Vishe compered the function.  200 students (girls) attended the program.
    2. Arranged an Essay Competition on Violence Against Women and Legal Provisions on 25th February, 2014.

2014-15:

    1. Inaugural lecture on 17th August, 2014 by Smt. Nafisa Hussain, Member Maharashtra Mahila Ayog.
    2. Vasudha Pawar guided girl students on Health Issues on 19th December, 2014.

2015-16:

    1. Inaugural lecture on 5th August, 2015 by Dr. Nivedita Desale. She guided students on psychological and physical health of girls.
    2. Essay competition on CCTV and Women Security on 23rd January, 2016.

2016-17:

    1. Minal Sohani of Agrawal College Kalyan was invited to talk on “Women’s Harassment and Remedies” on 29th September, 2016.
    2. On 22nd February, 2017 the cell organized Essay Competition on “Women Empowerment and Higher Education”.
    3. In association with Savitribai Phule Vichar Manch and Samarpan Health Care Center Murbadthe WDC conducted health check-up camp for girls.
    4. In association with Savitribai Phule Vichar Manch the WDC organized ‘Nail Art’ and ‘Hair Style’.

2017-18:

    1. Performance of feminist play “Biryani on 7th October 2017.
    2. Organised an Essay competition on 11th January 2018 on the topic “Problems of women in Administration and Remedies at Workplace”. First – Mayuri R. Zunjarrao (F.Y.Bcom) Second –Sandhya S. Kedar(T.Y.Bcom) Third- Poonam M. Dalvi(T.Y.B.A)
    3. Organised Elocution competition’on 30th Jan, 2018 on the topic Reality of Safety Measure for Women. First- Akshada A. khandagle(S.Y.Bcom) ,Second – Varsha P. Sokhande(T.Y.Bsc), Third-Rahul R. Patil(S.Y.B.com) consolation – Rohini C. Jamdare(F.Y.B.sc) .Prof M.V.  Pawar and Prof V.C. Patil were Judges. Our student Akshada Khandagle compered the program. Vice-Prin Mrs. G.R.Vishe proposed vote of thanks. 50 students were present for the competition.

2013-14:

First Meeting:

Women Development Cell’s meeting was held on Wednesday 03rd July 2013 at 11.45
a.m. in the conference room. 
The meeting started with the welcoming of members by the secretary. The secretary
read out the minutes of the previous meeting. The secretary also read out the agenda of the
meeting. In this meeting following things were discussed.
1. The date of inauguration of the cell.
2. An eminant person is to be called for the inauguration function.
3. The programmes and competitions to be held in this academic year.
4. Savitribai Phule Vichar Manch working under this cell will arrange the programmes to
promote the empowering of women especially girls students.
5. Facilities in the ladies common room should be given priority and the health regarding
problems of girl students must be given almost importance and solve them immediately.

Resolution

1. All the points discussed in the meeting should be brought into effect immediately.

Second Meeting:

A meeting of the members of Women Development Cell was held on 22th Jan. 2014.
In this meeting following points were discussed after reading of minutes.
1. To arrange the lecture related to Law for Women and Women Rights.
2. To arrange a workshop on beauty under Savitribai Phule Vichar Munch.
3. Arranging various competitions for girl students.
Resolutions

1. It was decided to keep the lecture of Adv. Indavi Tulpule regarding Laws for Women
Safety Protetion and Women Rights.
2. At least two competitions should be held for the girls in the second half of the term by
Savitribai Phule Vichar Munch.
3. Mrs. Tina Yewale is to be invited as a Resource person for the workshop on Beauty
Parlour Course which is to be held under Savitribai Phule Vichar Munch.

2014-15:

First Meeting:

A meeting of the members of Women Development Cell was held on 22th July. 2014
by 12.00 p.m. in the conference room. 
The meeting was started with the welcoming of the members by the secretary and
there after the following things were discussed with reading the minutes.
1. The date of inaugaration was decided and for inaugaration the name of Smt. Nafisa
Hussain was suggested who can give guidance lecture on motivation.
2. It was also decided to inivite some Doctor and to arrange a Health Checkup camp for
students and also awarness program on health issue.
3. All the members agreed to go to each classroom personally and to check whether girls
student
are properly bringing tiffin and eating on time.
4. Yearly activities and the competition to be taken was decided in the meeting.
5. Vote of thanks was given by Prof. Mrs. V. V. Singh.

 

Second Meeting:

Women Development Cell’s meeting was held on Monday 8th December 2014 by
11.30 a.m. in the conference room. 
Meeting was started with the welcoming of the members by Secretary and the
following things were discussed.
1. It was decided to invite Dr. Vasuda Pawar for Health awareness program as decided in the
early meeting and also decided that this program will be undertaken by Savitribai Phule
Vichar Munch to organise.
2. It is also decided to take Mehandi Competition and also some more competition in the
month of February.
3. Principal Dr. S. M. Patil appreciated the work done by Women Development Cell
especially refered lecture by Smt. Nafisa Hussain who motivated girls on 17th August 2014.
4. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. S. M. Birajdar.

2015-16:

First Meeting:

A meeting was held Women Development Cell on 20th July 2015 at 11.45 a.m. in the
conference room. 
The meeting was started by the welcoming of secretary of the presented members and
the following things were discussed after the reading of minutes of last meeting.
1. It was decided to inaugarate the Cell by inviting a personality who can inform the problems
faced by Girls of health issue and also common health problem.
2. It was also decided of yearly activities and various competitions to be taken in the whole
year under this head with the support of Savitribai Phule Vichar Munch.
3. It was also resolved to invite Advocate Vaishali Gharat in the month of August 2015 for
giving information of various laws which are made for the women rights and also women
protection and safely measures.
4. Vote of thanks was given by Prof. Mrs. V. V. Singh.

 

Second Meeting:

A meeting of Women Development Cell was held on 05th January 2016. 
The meeting was started with the welcoming by the secretary and the following things
were discussed with the reading of minutes of last meeting.
1. The Principal congratulated the members of Cell who had organised a helath awarness
program in which Dr. Nivedita Desale was invited where she has given information of
different health issues. The program was greatly successful and Adv. Vaishali Gharat who
had also given various information of law.
2. It was also resolved to arrange Elocution competition in the month of January 2016.
3. It was decided that every teaching member of WDC will announce in the class that if any
student specially girls student is facing any kind of health issue should be discussed with the
said professor. All members agreed to it.
4. Vote of thanks was given by Prof. Mrs. V. V. Singh.

2016-17:

First Meeting:

A meeting of Women Development Cell was called on 05/08/2016. 
In this meeting the following points were discussed and decisions were taken.
1. A Social activist is to be invited for the inauguration of the cell and a guidance lecture is to
be arranged for the women empowerment and also for the developement of the society.
2. To make an action plan about yearly activities and arranging various competitions under
the head of ‘Savitribai Phule Vichar Munch’. It was also resolved that various career oriented
courses to be started for girls.
3. It was decided that ICC committee is constituted as per the provisions of the act.

Second Meeting:

A meeting of the members of Women Development Cell was held on 05/12/2016.
The following issues were discussed and resolved in this meeting.
1. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary in which she provided the
committee the information that Mrs. Nimal Soni was invited as a resource person. In her
speech she stressed the importance of social responsibility of every citizen. She also spoke on
how to oppose sexual harassment. She also told the need of changing the view of women
considering themselves inferior but equal and they are important in the society.
2. It was decided a hair style, Mehandi designing workshop and cometitions are to be held
under the umbrella of Savitribai Phule Vichar Munch.
3. Prof. Mrs. V. V. Singh proposed vote of thanks of the meeting.

2017-18:

First Meeting:

A meeting of the members of Women Development Cell was held on 28th June 2017
by 11.45 a.m.

The following things were discussed in the meeting after reading the minutes of last
meeting.
1. It was decided to organise a Gender Audit for the students with complete proposal with
proper planning and report of the result of Gender Audit has to be maintained.
2. It was also resolved so to organise some informative and educative some sensitive program
for students in the form of poetry reading or by showing some drama or play.
3. It was decided that the girl student would be promoted to register the complaint without
any hesitation to this cell and they will be assured that the proper action will be taken.
4. Vote of thanks was given by Prof. P. B. Bhaskar.

Second Meeting:

A meeting of the members of Women Development Cell was held on 11th January 2018 by 11.00 a.m. in the conference room.            

 The meeting was started by the welcoming ot the presented members by the secretary and the following things were discussed with the reading the minutes of last meeting.

        1. Its decided in the early meeting a Gender Audit was organised in the month of September and detail report was submitted to the management in the month of December 2017.
        2. It was also decided to organise various competitions like Mehandi, Rangoli, Elocution and Essay competition under this head.
        3. As decided in the earlier meeting, Savitribai Phule Vichar Munch has organised a dramatic performance with the help of Imperical Foundation ‘Biryani’ which was based Women issue.
        4. Vote of thanks was given by Prof. P. P. Bhagat.

 

2018-19:

First Meeting:

A meeting of Women Development Cell was held on 28/07/2018 at 11.30 a.m.

            In this meeting the following issues were discussed and resolved.

        1. The minutes of last meeting were read by Dr. M. K. Sutavani and confirmed.
        2. After discussion, it was resolved to invite Smt. Prachi Apte to inaugurate Women Development Cell and to counsel the students on ‘Stress Management’.
        3. All Members resolved that a programme on ‘Gender Sensitization and Equality’ is to be held during the year.
        4. Prof. Mrs. G. R. Vishe proposed vote of thanks of the meeting.

 

Second Meeting:

A meeting of the members of Women Development Cell was called on 13th March 2019 at 12.00 p.m. in the Principal’s cabin.

In this meeting the following issues were discussed and confirmed.

      1. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
      2. Dr. Mrs. M. S. Sutavani informed the members about the activities taken place in the term.
      3. i) Smt. Prachi Apte counselled students on Stress Management on 25th Sept., 2018.
      4. ii) Smt. Yogini Ghare, Deputy Registrar, University of Mumbai delivered lectures on Gender Sensitization in which she stressed on Gender equality exploitation of women at work place.

iii) Essay competition was conducted on gender equality and social attitude on 18th Feb., 2019.

      1. iv) On 8th March 2019 ‘Women’s Day’ was celeberated in which Dr. Bharti Bote, Medical Officer of Shivle, PHC, and Shri. D. N. Borate, Police Inspector of Murbad, Police station spoke on ‘Health of Women’ and Harassment of women and legal provisions against it. They also provided police Help Line Number to the girl students for their help.
      2. All members appreciated the work done by WDC during the year.
      3. Prof. V. V. Singh proposed the vote of thanks.

2019-20:

First Meeting:

Meeting on 6th July, 2019
A meeting of the members of Women Development Cell called on 6th July, 2019 at 12.00 noon in the Principal cabin. In this meeting following members were present:

Meeting was started by the reading of last meeting minutes by Prof. V.V. Singh
1) Adv. Indavi Tulpule suggested the groups of girls should be formed to discuss their health problem or any other like harassment in college or at home, on way by coming to the college and also problem faced by some women or girl which is came to know by them should be discussed and proper guidance to be given to them and also to the victim by this cell and should be encouraged to speak up about the problems.
2) Dr. G.R. Vishe who is actively engaged in organizing health related program for the student from the years had also suggested to write some Doctors to check the hemoglobin and gynac related problems to the girls.
3) Hygiene and safety measures information should be given to the students.
4) Vote of Thanks was given by Dr. G.R. Vishe.
